In her previous role as Minister for Social Development, Hon Paula Bennett pioneered the investment approach in social welfare. Following National’s re-election she is pursuing an equally ambitious and innovative reform agenda in her new portfolios. 

About the speaker

Paula has been in Parliament since 2005. Originally as a List MP, she won the electorate seat of Waitakere off Labour in 2008 and held the seat until it was broken up in boundary changes. Paula has been the MP for Upper Harbour since 2014.

Paula is driven by a desire to see people succeed and thrive. She has a particular interest in social services, children and climate change.

In the previous National Government she held a range of portfolios, in her current roles as MP for Upper Harbour and Deputy Leader of the National Party, Paula is committed to serving New Zealander’s from all walks of life.
