Media release: NZ Initiative to host Australia’s Human Rights Commissioner
Wellington (24 June 2014): The New Zealand Initative is set to host Australia’s new Human Rights Commissioner Tim Wilson for two lectures in Auckland and Wellington next week.
This highly anticipated event has already been booked out in Wellington, and places are filling up quickly for the Auckland event.
In this series of thought-provoking lectures, Tim will show that our freedoms are the ultimate source of human rights and are fundamental to pursuing our own happiness and enterprise. Human rights require more individual freedom, not less.
Tim Wilson is a passionate defender of universal, individual human rights, especially in free speech, freedom of association, religion, and movement, and property rights.
In February 2014, Tim was Appointed Australia’s Human Rights Commissioner. Prior to this he was a policy director at the Institute of Public Affairs.
Tim Wilson’s first lecture will be in Auckland on Monday 30 June, Decima Glenn Room, Level 3, Owen G Glenn Building, 12 Grafton Road. To register for the Auckland event click here.
The second lecture will be held in Wellington at The New Zealand Initiative offices on Tuesday, 1 July.
